Torrens masterfully crafts a suspenseful narrative, weaving together the lives of Buena Vista's troubled residents with the heart-pounding search for missing girls. 

The exploration of Tyler Zahn's introspective journey, grappling with past losses and survivor's guilt, adds a layer of depth that elevates this beyond a typical thriller. 

The pacing is spot-on, and the "based on a true case" element adds a chilling realism. It's the kind of book that makes you want to keep the lights on at night! 

I loved the way the author explored the inner turmoil of the characters, making them feel real and relatable. It's a testament to Torrens' skill as a writer that he can create such a suspenseful atmosphere while also delving into the emotional complexities of his characters.
